Psalms 20 and 21 do something different from the other psalms in Book One of the Psalms. It’s as if the author David has been reading the poems he has written about the king and, based on the things he has written, says, “We’ve got to pray for this coming king! If he doesn’t make it, we won’t make it. Our salvation depends upon his salvation.” There’s much more in these two psalms, and we’re glad we can walk through them together.
