Tom Kelby is joined by pastor Andrew Melton. Tom and Andrew cover a lot of ground today. They start in the Law with Jacob’s dream of the ladder reaching to heaven in Genesis 28. They move to the Prophets and Hosea’s creative reuse of a name Jacob used in our chapter in Genesis. They move from there to the gospels and Jesus’s use of the same story from Genesis 28. Tom and Andrew conclude talking about why it’s so important, even if we’re not experts, to read and study books with Hebrew poetry like Hosea. We’re starting with Genesis 28 today, because that's one of the readings this month from the Law in the GearTalk Bible Reading Plan. When possible, we’re trying to focus on one of the readings covered in the plan. If you haven’t signed up for the plan, go to handstotheplow.org.
Today, Tom referred to Andrew Naselli's work on typology in 40 Questions About Biblical Theology. Sign up for the GearTalk Bible Reading Plan.
